Nugenix ingredients

There’s no denying that Nugenix has been one of the most sought-after testosterone boosters in recent years. Perhaps the reason for that is its comprehensive formula? While we’re about to take a closer look at all of the Nugenix ingredients that make it so popular, it’s worth tackling the question: can it really increase testosterone levels?

Yes, this supplement can most definitely optimize your testosterone levels. Thanks to some tested and proven and above all, scientifically proven compounds, this product can indeed be quite effective at elevating your natural T production.

With so many testosterone boosting supplements on the market these days, it’s rather important to be familiar with the formulation of each one. Only by doing so can you be certain what you’re putting into your body and most importantly, whether it’ll prove effective or not!

What Is The Nugenix Ingredients Label All About?

Nugenix Natural Testosterone Booster Capsules, 90 Count

What we have here is a very modern, yet not too groundbreaking formula that consists of some ingredients that are meant to increase your body’s own T production. While the other ones in the form of vitamins are intended to aid and augment the overall effectiveness of Nugenix.

Vitamin B-6 (as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) – 2 mg

Vitamin B6 is part of the B complex family and one of the 8 distinct vitamins in the B-vitamin group. While it can be obtained from a lot of foods, our bodies need it as this vitamin helps us to convert food into energy.

Also, our bodies require Vitamin B6 for maintaining in various aspects such as:

  • Skin condition
  • Nerve health
  • Red blood cell production

Now, the 2 mg of Vit. B6 that Nugenix comes with is more than enough since that’s exactly 100% of the recommended daily intake of this vitamin.

Vitamin B-12 (Methylcobalamin) – 50 mcg

This one’s another water-soluble vitamin from the B group. Vitamin B12 is a rather important vitamin since it’s involved in the metabolism of every single cell in our bodies and it also plays a role in the natural synthesis of DNA.

Not only that but Vitamin B12 also aids in the metabolism of amino and fatty acids, while also helping in other ways like:

  • Maintaining nerve health
  • Aiding in blood cell production
  • Fights anemia

As for the dosing, 50 mcg is about 833% of the amount of Vit. B12 that you need each day and don’t worry, that’s not too much since doses up to 2,000 mcg are okay.

Zinc (as Zinc Chelate) – 1 mg

Zinc is considered an essential trace mineral and our bodies need that mineral for a plethora of reasons, including:

  • Immune function support
  • Aids in protein production
  • Helps with cell division
  • Boosts testosterone production (more on that later)

Although there’s a minuscule amount of Zinc (1 mg or only 7% of the daily value) in Nugenix, the fact that you’re getting the chelated form of this mineral is good news. That’s because chelated forms of vitamins and minerals are more easily absorbed by the body.

1. L-Citrulline Malate

This is one of the naturally occurring, non-essential amino acids in our bodies, which is naturally produced, but you can also get it through food (such as watermelons).

There are quite a few uses for L-Citrulline, as it can supposedly help with:

  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Muscle fatigue
  • High blood pressure
  • Fatigue

An interesting fact about this amino acid is that it’s turned by the kidneys into another popular amino acid known as L-Arginine. And as you might know, L-Arginine is responsible for an increase in nitric oxide production, leading to a dilatation of the blood vessels in your body, including your sexual organ (to put it that way).

Unfortunately, there’s no way to tell how much L-Citrulline we’re getting here, “thanks” to the proprietary blend.

2. Testofen Fenugreek Seed Extract (50% Fenuside)

Testofen is the brand name of a particular Fenugreek extract that’s standardized for a 50% Fenuside content. As for Fenugreek, that’s arguably one of the most popular T boosting ingredients and it’s a herb that’s also been used for cooking (believe it or not).

Fenugreek is generally used for its supposed effectiveness related to:

  • Naturally increased testosterone production
  • Digestive problems like upset stomach

And while no one (except the manufacturer) truly knows how much Testofen is in Nugenix, the fact that this Fenugreek extract contains more than 100 phytochemical constituents does sound pretty good.

3. Tribulus (fruit)

Ah, good old Tribulus, it still seems to find its way into the ingredient profile of different testosterone boosters. Now, before giving you any specific info about Tribulus Terrestris, make sure to check my article about the effectiveness (or lack of) of Trib when it comes to increasing your natural testosterone production.

As for Tribulus Terrestris itself, it’s a plant that’s been used as a general health supplement  for quite a while now and there are a few main benefits associated with the use of Trib:

  • Enhance libido
  • Boost testosterone

And because Tribulus is surrounded by controversy, we’ll talk about whether or not the ingredients in Nugenix are actually effective and if there’s any scientific data to suggest that.

Can The Nugenix Ingredients Really Boost Your Own Testosterone Production?

Some can, others not so much. Here’s a breakdown of each ingredient and the related scientific data, to prove or disprove the supposed T boosting impact of this supplement:

Vitamin B6 – Lack of human trails and conclusive data

While Vitamin B6 might be very important for a number of bodily processes, when it comes to testosterone there’s not enough solid scientific data to point out a real correlation between Vitamin B6 and an increase in natural testosterone production.

Still, there are some scientific findings (1) that indicate that Vit. B6 might be an actual physiological modulator of steroid hormones, including testosterone.

Vitamin B12 – Able to support semen quality

While there’s an obvious lack of scientific research pointing out to a potential link between testosterone and Vitamin B12, there are studies suggesting (2) that this vitamin may improve semen quality.

In fact, Vit. B12 may prove to be quite useful when it comes to increasing sperm count and optimizing sperm motility, while also decreasing the sperm DNA damage.

Zinc – Proven to boost testosterone levels

Zinc has to be every men’s favorite mineral. Why? Because supplementing with Zinc has been scientifically proven (3) to increase plasma testosterone levels.

Not only that but as an added bonus, this vital mineral also increases sperm count!

L-Citrulline Malate – An alternative to erectile dysfunction treatment

Sure, L-Citrulline might not be a real testosterone boosting ingredient, but science says (4) that it can prove to be a potent alternative to traditional ED treatment.

Apparently, this amino acid may improve erection hardness in guys who have a mild case of ED and it’s also a safe and well-accepted thing among patients.

Testofen (Fenugreek) – Optimizes sexual function and serum testosterone

The Testofen Fenugreek extract is a very potent ingredient and according to relevant research (5), it boosts serum test levels, enhances sexual function and might even relieve androgen deficiency-related symptoms in middle-aged guys.

Tribulus – No conclusive findings that it increases testosterone

Tribulus Terrestris is still labeled as a “testosterone boosting” ingredient, yet there’s not a single conclusive research to suggest that it may indeed enhance natural T production.

Quite the opposite actually, studies highlight the fact (6) that Trib doesn’t increase serum testosterone. End of story!

Wrapping It Up

So there you have it folks, the ingredient profile of Nugenix is apparently pretty good, minus the inclusion of Tribulus. Overall, it’s quite obvious why this test booster has been so successful.

What do you think about Nugenix though and if you’ve tried it yourself – is it any good? Let me know in the comment section below (I read every single comment)!
